Finally, I was able to get back into my Blogger site. I wish that they would make up my mind as to whether they want me here or not.

I guess that since I started using Google Chrome as my browser, they relented. ;)

Book Review: They Hunger by Scott Nicholson

This is the first of many books by Scott that I hope to read. This was one of the creepiest vampire books I have ever read, and that is saying a lot, as I have been reading vampire books since I was in the first grade.

The way he describes the events makes you feel as if you were there, not just an observer. You feel for the characters, both the bad and the good.

There are a few technical errors, which I could not get past, however. Mostly to do with the firearms involved in the book. However, they were not enough to keep me from thoroughly enjoying the story.

If you like vampires, and I know you do, you should certainly read this book.

Book Review: The Harbor by Al Lamanda

What do an old hand-cranked phonograph, an old record from the 1930s, and an ancient evil, all have do with what is happening in Harbor Island, Maine? That is what faces Sheriff Mark Blaine. Mark is a former Philadelphia police officer, who had to leave the force do to crawling into the bottle after a hard shooting. He then goes to Harbor Island to become their sheriff. This is what this book has. To tell you any more, would be giving you spoilers.

This is the first book of Al Lamanda’s that I have read, and it will not be the last. I was completely engrossed, even though the first part of the book was kind of slow reading, and there were a couple of technical errors, but, as you can see, it did not detract me away from the story that much.

I will definitely not be disappointed if you bought this book. It is only $.99 in digital form, and you are certainly getting more than your money’s worth for it.

Book Review: I remember my circus by Tom S. Figueiredo

I Remember My Circus by Tom S. Figeuirdo, is some thing I had never encountered before. It is a horror story for children. It is about a little boy (who is the narrator) going to his first circus.

I really enjoyed this book. I got it so I could learn about story and sentence structure to help me out as a writer.

If you have kids (or even if you don't) you should get this book.

Book Review: The Glass Coffin by Mark Christopher Scioneaux and Robert Shane Wilson

This novella was exceptionally well crafted. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, and to tell you the truth, I'm not a real fan of zombie stories, but this is up there with the best.

I really think you will enjoy this novella, so hurry up, and go get it!

Book Review: The Second Ward by Robert DeCoteau

This is a story about Jason. He is a young man condemned to living in a psychiatric hospital. He struggles from a reoccurring nightmare, which just might give him clues to recovering his sanity.

This story is gripping as well as horrifying. It is worse than zombies, Robert’s usual fare, it is psychological horror.

It was so compelling that it took me all of half an hour to read this story.

I think you too would enjoy it.

Book Review: Blind Vision by Karen Fritz

A serial killer, a blind psychic, and a cop; Sounds like a set up for a bad joke, but it is a set up for a terrific book.

Losing his eyesight to a car accident gave Peter Cole a new sight. He uses this sight to help Detective Joe Carson solve a series of grisly murders.

This book is the debut offering from Ms. Fritz.

It his scary and funny, and has an amazing surprise ending. I know you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.

Book Review: Bad Odds by Duke Davis

After serving in the U.S. Navy for six years, Bob Sloan is now a civilian contractor for the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He also spent four years in the civilian world fixing helicopters.

He is on his way to his first station, when his helicopter is shot down in the middle of nowhere.
This book is about his trials after surviving the crash.

Now, let me tell you a little about Mr. Davis. He is a Vietnam veteran, serving with distinction with a small group in the Navy. Maybe you have heard of them, The SEALS.

This book comes from the heart, it feels like you are actually there with Bob as he and Marine Lance Corporal, Steve Briscoe.

There were many time I caught myself (mentally) yelling at the characters to warn them.

You will enjoy this book, even if you do not care for historic or military fiction. I know I did.

NanoWriMo

Okay, so I flubbed this one, but I am going to continue working on the story I started with. There will always be next year. ;)

Well.... I did it, I took the plunge and joined NaNoWriMo. This is my first time, so wish me luck. :)

Hey there! Long time, no see! :) Sorry it has been a while, but I've been fairly busy, and I had a few episodes of really deep depression, where I didn't really want to write anything. I did, however, get my autobiography turned in, even though it was not finished, but the social worker who requested it, needed it so she could get my case going. I have been working on it more, and plan to work even more. *L*

I still haven't really got started on my nevel, beyond what I've posted.

Well...

I need to get up early tomorrow morning because I have an early appointment. I'm actually thinking os asking my DARS case worker, if I can change theapists, to the lady who was facilitating the groups I went to a couple of weeks ago. She has more experience with ADD.

Well, I'll try to come back tomorrow.

I'm sorry for my long absence. I had a very busy week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I had meetings at a company called Prima ADD Corp, here in Dallas. They are an ADD specializing theapy group. Tuesday, I had a counseling session, and Thursday, I had a meds clinic. By the time I got home from these various bus rides, I was too tired to write anything. *L*

But I will get back to the business of writing this week.

I started a new website to promote my writing, but I'm not going to share the address just yet. First off, it's not near ready for public perusal. *L* Second, I don't have any writing to promote, as of yet. :)

Well...

I'm off now, as it's nearly supper-time, here at the Lewis household, and I will be needed to help set it up. ;) What'd they do while I was in Pennsylvania? ;)

I'll send out another blog tomorrow.

I didn't get any writing done today, but I started doing some research. I'm researching Female Serial Killers. I found out there are a lot more than I realized!

If anyone out there, knows where I can get some material along those lines, let me know.

Here it is Saturday!

What am I going to write about today? Who know? *LOL*

It's hot and muggy outside right now, and not much cooler inside, definitely not less muggy.The AC is on and so is the fan. Not helping much though.

Here are some ideas I came up with for my book. Tell me what y'all think, okay? :)

Here's what I've got for an opening:

I was out side smoking a cigarette, as I normally do since I am no longer allowed to smoke in my house. I was looking up at the nearly full moon, and thinking to myself that someone was being murdered right now. Then my cell phone rang.

“This is Chambers.”

“Mike, you dressed?” It was Patti, my partner.

“Yeah, why?”

““We got a call, a DB found at 1098 S. Crescent Rd.”

“On my way.” No, I know what your thinking, I'm not psychic. I'm a homicide detective, and I just know that someone is getting murdered, the night before my day off.

And here are some character notes, for both Mike Chambers and the as of yet, unnamed killer:

Mike:

Private Investigator or Criminal Investigator?
Severe ADD (A, B, or C?)
What comorbid?
Criminal Investigations?

Killer:

Female serial killer
Kills men, after she rapes them anally with a strap-on
Hates men and fears them
Sexually abused as a child (father? uncle? brother?)
Sexy looking
Rich, social family
Goes after men who reminds her of her tormentor
Police think the killer is a gay male

Here I sit at my computer. I can't really think of anything to write. :( I wonder why that is. Should I post his journal as a blog? I don't see why not. Other people might enjoy reading it, and I might get some supportive and helpful comments.

But what to write about? I don't really know right now, how about, writing about how I feel right now? Okay!

Right this minute, I am very excited. I am writing my autobiography for an assignment, not for publishing yet, and it got me to thinking that maybe I could do this for a living!

It's a lot of fun, but I'm not fooling myself, I know it's going to be a lot of hard work, and maybe even some introspection, and that's kind of scary. Oh oh. My mind just went blank. *L* Oh well, I'll wrap this up for now, I'll post more tomorrow.
